Grain LNG Screenprint

‘Grain LNG’, Screenprint, 76cm x 57cm, edition of 6. This is a view of the gas tanks next to the B2001 in Wallend, on the way to Grain. I cycled past them earlier this year on a windy winter’s ride from Strood to Gravesend. I was attracted by the intense, thin bands of red and green and the rusting orange and grey tanks, contrasting with the sombre grey sky and the yellow dry grass and clumps of olive green scrub in the foreground. I’ve been exploring the contrast between the sharp lines of my paper cut-out stencils and the rough painterly patterns of the block-out paint on the screen mesh. I’m looking to develop this further in future prints.
