‘London Gateway’, Sketch + Photoshop. My latest picture is part of what’s turning in to a River Thames series. I went on an amazing cycle ride around the north Kent Coast starting in Strood, round the Isle of Grain and ending at Gravesend. It’s remote with no settlements for miles after Allhallows-on-Sea. Whether you walk or cycle it’s a long day, made harder with a strong head-wind. (There’s a good reason offshore wind farms are in the Thames Estuary). This picture is looking across the low tide flats and the estuary to London Gateway container port. I’m particularly interested in the horizontal layers of contrasting colours and textures and the vertical winding water channels in the mud. Screenprint to follow.
